How It Works – Road Surface Dressing
Surface dressing is a great value alternative to our road repairs service and is suitable for giving a new finish to a worn out road surface. The technique, known as ‘Tar and Chip’ or ‘Chipseal’ involves driving a specialised surfacing vehicle along the road to be resurfaced. This will apply the tar and immediately afterwards cover it with the ‘chip’ part, which is a loose aggregate. Not all of the aggregate will stick to the tar, so there is often a temporary layer of loose gravel that will stick down over time (you may have experienced this surface on local roads). Surface dressing is a great way to cover large areas in a short space of time, filling in any cracks and minor imperfections.
